Eden Valley fruit at altitude — Riesling and cooler-climate Shiraz.
Angaston, South AustraliaBarossa Valley
Four hundred metres up the eastern ridge, where the nights drop away and the Riesling keeps its acid. It is the same valley and a different climate entirely.
Riesling, bone dry, built to be forgotten in a cellar for a decade. And a Shiraz that has more in common with the northern Rhône than with the valley floor below us.
The cellar door is an 1890s stone stable. Cheese from the next farm along, and the view goes a long way.
