Ironbark Ridge Wines

Ungrafted Shiraz from bush vines planted in 1889, dry-grown on their own roots.

Tanunda, South AustraliaBarossa Valley

The old block was planted in 1889 and has never been irrigated, never been grafted and never been pulled out, which in this valley makes it ordinary and everywhere else in the world makes it impossible.

Bush vines

No trellis, no wires — each vine stands on its own like a small tree. Yields are tiny. The fruit is concentrated to the point of being difficult in a hot year.

Visiting

We walk the old block first, then taste in the shed. Wear a hat between November and March; there is no shade out there.
