Perdenales Ridge Cellars

Estate Tempranillo and Mourvèdre grown on shallow limestone, fermented in concrete.

Fredericksburg, TXTexas Hill Country

We planted eleven acres in 2009 on ground three inches deep before it hits rock. Everyone told us the vines would struggle. They did — and that turned out to be the point.

What we make

Tempranillo is the backbone. Mourvèdre and Cinsault fill out the reds, and a small block of Picpoul gives us something to drink in August. Everything ferments in concrete: no new oak, no correction, no additions beyond a little sulphur at bottling.

Visiting

The tasting room is a converted hay barn with the west wall opened up. We pour seated, six at a time, because standing at a bar is a bad way to taste wine.
